How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Damp & Mould Operative – Social Housing (Major Works & Voids)

    Location: East London (Tower Hamlets, Canning Town, Newham & Hackney)
    Salary: £35,000 per annum

    About the Role

    Our client is looking to recruit an experienced Damp & Mould Operative to join our Major Works and Voids team covering East London.

    Working across social housing properties, you will carry out damp and mould remediation, property reinstatement and associated repairs within both occupied and void homes. This is an excellent opportunity for a customer-focused operative who takes pride in delivering high-quality workmanship while helping improve residents' living conditions.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Carry out damp and mould treatment within occupied and void social housing properties.

    * Diagnose and remove mould contamination using approved cleaning methods and materials.

    * Prepare surfaces and complete remedial painting and decorating works following treatment.

    * Carry out minor plaster repairs, making good and sealing works where required.

    * Remove and replace damaged silicone, sealants and affected materials as necessary.

    * Identify and report the underlying causes of damp and mould, raising follow-on works where required.

    * Ensure properties are left clean, safe and ready for occupation.

    * Deliver excellent customer service, providing advice and reassurance to residents throughout the repair process.

    * Complete all work in line with company procedures, health and safety legislation and quality standards.

    * Accurately update jobs using PDA devices and maintain clear records of completed works.

    Essential Skills & Experience

    * Previous experience as a Damp & Mould Operative, Painter & Decorator or Multi Trade Operative within social housing or property maintenance.

    * Experience carrying out mould treatment, preparation, decorating and property reinstatement works.

    * Good understanding of damp and mould causes and remedial solutions.

    * Competent in painting, decorating, making good and minor plaster repairs.

    * Excellent customer service and communication skills when working in occupied homes.

    * Ability to work independently and manage a busy workload.

    * Full UK driving licence.
