How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    SENIOR MET TECHNICIAN / CONTROLLER
    Location: Birmingham
    Salary: £42,000 - £50,000 Depending on Experience / Individual Performance related bonus
    Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
    Hours: Monday - Friday - 08:00 - 17:00

    THE ROLE
    As a Senior MET Technician / Controller, you will combine hands-on technical expertise with workshop coordination responsibilities, ensuring vehicle repairs progress efficiently while maintaining exceptional quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction.

    Key Responsibilities:
    ·Carry out mechanical, electrical, and trim (MET) repairs to manufacturer standards
    ·Support and coordinate the daily workflow of the MET department to maximise efficiency
    ·Allocate work and provide technical guidance to fellow technicians where required
    ·Diagnose vehicle damage and identify repair or replacement requirements
    ·Work closely with Workshop Controllers, Estimators, Panel Technicians, and Paint Technicians to ensure repairs progress smoothly
    ·Ensure all repairs comply with manufacturer methods, health and safety legislation, and company quality standards
    ·Complete accurate repair documentation and maintain workshop records
    ·Support the management team in achieving productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction targets

    ABOUT YOU
    We're looking for an experienced and motivated Senior MET Technician with strong technical knowledge and the ability to lead by example within a busy accident repair centre.

    ·Previous experience as a Senior MET Technician, MET Strip & Fit Technician, or MET Controller
    ·Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and trim repairs within an automotive bodyshop
    ·Experience coordinating workshop activity or mentoring junior technicians
    ·Excellent diagnostic and fault-finding skills
    ·Strong organisational and communication abilities
    ·Commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship and outstanding customer service
    ·Full UK Driving Licence
    ·ATA Accreditation advantageous but not essential
