How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

    Job description

    We are seeking a Multi Skilled Maintenance Technician to join an established team in the Maintenance and Engineering department. This role requires hands-on expertise in maintaining and improving industrial equipment within a manufacturing environment in St. Helens.

    A St Helens-based Manufacturing and Production business specialising in advanced glass fibre and glass cord materials, primarily used to reinforce automotive timing belts and other industrial applications. It operates as part of a global glass manufacturing group and supplies specialised materials to customers worldwide

    Description

    As the Multi Skilled Maintenance Technician you will be tasked with the following;

    · Diagnose electrical and mechanical breakdowns to restore equipment; by reviewing drawings/documentation, repair and/or redesign, in order to avoid or minimise production downtime and losses. Repairing equipment which is predominantly Mechanical such as; Gearboxes, Belts, Sprockets, Conveyors, Drive Shafts, Ovens, Spools, Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Pumps etc.

    · Create, modify, and review risk assessments and standard operating procedures in accordance with Group Policy, legislative requirements and industry best practice.

    · Undertake preventative maintenance of plant equipment, services, distribution and alarm systems to avoid downtime/losses.

    · Electrical work up to 415V will be completed and may include live working.

    · Ensure reporting processes (verbal/written) relating to maintenance activity, processing of engineering spare parts and storage records are adhered to.

    · Contribute to a range of continuous improvement activities, including maximising performance of plant, equipment and control systems, driving housekeeping standards (5S), reducing energy consumption and environmental impacts.

    · Supervision of apprentices, trainees/ and contractors.

    · Project co-ordination and administration of maintenance systems/drawings.

    · Active involvement in health and safety activities to ensure hazards are identified and eliminated; and highest standards achieved.

    Profile

    A successful Multi Skilled Maintenance Technician will have the following;

    · Time served engineering apprenticeship, qualified to HNC/HND ideally in Electrical Engineering, or alternatively Mechanical Engineering.

    · Exceptional safety awareness with knowledge and skills associated with a manufacturing environment.

    · Ability to work unsupervised for extended periods in accordance with standard operating procedures and capable of identifying, generating, and organising own workload.

    · Flexibility in working with engineering/manufacturing teams, to achieve KPI standards/

    targets and continuous improvements.

    · Strong verbal and written communication skills

    · Ability to work in accordance with a continuous shift pattern Rota; with flexibility to adapt in line with the needs of the business.
