How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Mechanical Maintenance Engineer (Shifts)

    Blue Arrow is proud to be working in partnership with a leading organisation within the metals recycling sector, who are now looking to recruit a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join their team on a full-time permanent basis at their site based in Matlock.

    Shift Rotation

    โœ… 2 x 12-hour Day Shifts (6:00am - 6:00pm)

    โœ… 2 x 12-hour Night Shifts (6:00pm - 6:00am)

    โœ… 4 Days Off

    โœ… Pattern repeats 7 times

    โœ… Followed by an impressive 18 consecutive days off

    โœ… Annual leave built into the shift pattern

    โœ… Two 45-minute breaks per shift

    โœ… Attendance at training on non-rostered days enables employees to bank up to 24 hours additional time off per year

    ๐Ÿ”ง What will you be doing?

    Reporting to the Shift Maintenance Team Leader, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of a wide range of plant and equipment within a busy heavy manufacturing environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    ๐Ÿ”ง Carry out preventative and reactive mechanical maintenance across a wide range of plant and equipment.

    ๐Ÿ”ง Undertake mechanical installations, breakdown repairs and general maintenance activities to minimise downtime and maximise plant reliability.

    ๐Ÿ”ง Complete Task Specific Risk Assessments and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all maintenance activities.

    ๐Ÿ”ง Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company procedures, permits to work and relevant legislation.

    ๐Ÿ”ง Safely isolate equipment and verify isolations prior to commencing maintenance work.

    ๐Ÿ”ง Identify and report issues that may impact the safe, efficient or reliable operation of plant and equipment.

    ๐Ÿ”ง Maintain exceptional housekeeping standards and ensure work areas are left clean, safe and organised.

    ๐Ÿ”ง Use PPE, tools, lifting equipment and company vehicles correctly and safely at all times.

    ๐Ÿ”ง Accurately book parts from stores and apply appropriate cost codes.

    ๐Ÿ”ง Support and promote a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental, Quality and Energy policies.

    ๐Ÿ”ง Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability and site performance.

    โœ” Completed Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent

    โœ” Previous experience working within a heavy industrial, manufacturing or process environment

    โœ” Strong mechanical maintenance, fault-finding and repair skills

    โœ” Good understanding of safe isolation, permit-to-work systems and maintenance best practice

    โœ” Strong commitment to health, safety and environmental responsibility

    โœ” Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively across departments

    โœ” Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative maintenance team

    โœ” Reliable and flexible approach with excellent timekeeping and attention to detail

    โœ” Proactive attitude towards maintenance, reliability and continuous improvement
