How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Learning Support Assistant

    Location: Nailsea, North Somerset
Salary: Grade 14 (dependent on experience)
    Contract: Term Time Only

Are you passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning? Do you enjoy working as part of a supportive team and making a genuine difference to young people's lives?

We are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Nailsea seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join its Student Welfare team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys supporting pupils with additional educational needs and wants to play a key role in helping every child achieve their potential.

    The Role

Working closely with teachers and the wider inclusion team, you will provide high-quality support for students with a range of additional educational needs within the classroom. You will help pupils access learning, build confidence and develop the skills they need to succeed academically, socially and emotionally.

    Key responsibilities include:

Providing classroom support for identified students with additional educational needs.
Working collaboratively with teachers to deliver adaptive teaching strategies and ensure pupils can access the curriculum.
Supporting students to remain engaged, motivated and confident during lessons.
Assisting pupils during break and lunchtime when required.
Building positive relationships with students, staff and external agencies.
Maintaining accurate records and communicating effectively with colleagues in line with school procedures.
Contributing to the wider life of the school and supporting the Student Welfare team as required.

    About You

We're looking for someone who is patient, positive and committed to supporting young people.

    Ideally, you will have:

GCSE Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent Level 2 qualification) in English and Maths.
Experience working with children or young people, preferably within a school or educational setting.
An understanding of how to support pupils with a range of additional educational needs.
    Good ICT skills.
    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
A calm, resilient and flexible approach.
A positive attitude with the ability to motivate and encourage students to achieve their best.

    What We're Looking For

The successful candidate will be someone who:

Builds positive and trusting relationships with young people.
Works collaboratively and contributes positively to a supportive team.
Is organised, proactive and able to use their initiative.
Responds calmly and professionally to challenges.
Is committed to helping every student reach their full potential.

    Why Apply?

This is an opportunity to join a supportive and inclusive secondary school that places student wellbeing and achievement at the heart of everything it does. You'll work alongside experienced colleagues who are passionate about providing high-quality support and ensuring every young person has the opportunity to succeed.

If you're looking for a rewarding role where you can make a lasting difference to the lives of young people, we'd love to hear from you.
