How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    SEMH School Setting
    Location: Derby (DE3)
    Pay Scale: £410 - £440 Take Home Per Week
    Hours: Monday to Friday, 8.40am - 15.40pm
    Duration: Long-term to permanent
    Start Date: 2nd September 2026

    The Opportunity:

    We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming all through SEMH provision school in Derby (DE3). This role involves supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) across a range of subjects, including Maths, English, Science, and other core curriculum areas. This is a full-time, temp to perm position starting in September 2026.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support across a range of subjects, including Maths and English
    Support pupils to access learning through personalised strategies that meet their academic, social, and emotional needs
    Build positive, trusting relationships that promote engagement, emotional regulation, and positive behaviour
    Assist pupils in developing confidence, resilience, independence, and essential life skills both inside and outside the classroom
    Monitor pupil progress and provide regular feedback to teaching staff to help adapt support strategies and intervention plansWho We're Looking For:

    Level 3 qualification minimum and essential
    Experience working with SEN students, ideally within a secondary school setting
    A patient, flexible, and nurturing approach to supporting young people
    Strong communication skills to work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and students
    As a learning support assistant, you must have a clear commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing
