How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

This is not a Service Advisor or Workshop Controller role – you'll spend the majority of your day carrying out diagnostics, repairs and supporting the workshop team with your technical expertise.

If you're passionate about vehicle diagnostics, enjoy mentoring others, and want to play a key role in the success of a busy independent garage, we'd love to hear from you.

    The Role

As the Senior Vehicle Technician / Workshop Supervisor, you'll combine hands-on vehicle diagnostics and repairs with day-to-day workshop leadership. Working alongside a skilled team of technicians, you'll ensure work is completed efficiently, safely and to the highest standards while helping to develop less experienced members of the team.

Carry out hands-on vehicle diagnostics, servicing and repairs on a wide range of vehicles.

Diagnose and resolve complex electrical, engine management and multi-system faults.

Use dealer-level and multi-brand diagnostic equipment, including Snap-on, Autel or equivalent systems.

Provide technical support and guidance to other technicians.

Carry out quality control checks on completed work.

Ensure repairs are completed in accordance with manufacturer (OEM) procedures and safety standards.

Maintain clear and accurate job cards, diagnostic reports and technical records.

Review and technically approve repair estimates prepared by the administration team.

    Workshop Leadership

Oversee daily workshop workflow and job allocation.

Monitor work in progress and adjust priorities to maintain efficiency.

Conduct daily workshop start-up and end-of-day procedures.

Maintain high standards of workshop organisation, cleanliness and equipment readiness.

Lead, mentor and support technicians and apprentices.

Promote a positive, professional and accountable workshop culture.

    Health & Safety

Ensure safe working practices and correct use of PPE.

Maintain compliance with environmental regulations relating to waste disposal, tyres, batteries and refrigerants.

Ensure workshop equipment and safety inspections are completed and maintained.

    What We're Looking ForExperience

Minimum of 10 years' hands-on experience as an Automotive Technician.

Previous experience in a Senior Technician, Workshop Supervisor or Lead Technician role.

Strong multi-brand diagnostic experience is essential.

Experience diagnosing complex electrical, engine management and vehicle system faults.

Confident using dealer-level diagnostic equipment such as Snap-on, Autel or similar.

ADAS calibration experience would be advantageous.

MOT Tester qualification is desirable but not essential.

    Skills & Knowledge

Level 3 Vehicle Maintenance & Repair qualification (or equivalent experience).

    Excellent diagnostic and fault-finding abilities.

Strong knowledge of modern vehicle systems and repair techniques.

Ability to lead by example while remaining hands-on in the workshop.

Strong organisational and time management skills.

    Excellent communication and mentoring abilities.

Commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship and customer satisfaction.

    Personal Attributes

We're looking for someone who is:

    A highly skilled, hands-on technician.

    Calm and methodical under pressure.

A natural leader who enjoys supporting and developing others.

    Reliable, organised and self-motivated.

Committed to maintaining high technical and safety standards.

Passionate about continuous learning and staying up to date with vehicle technology
