How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Field Service Engineer – M25 & Greater London

    Salary: £35,000–£40,000 DOE + Company Van + Door-to-Door Pay + Benefits
Location: Field Based – M25, Central London and Surrounding Areas
    Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

CWS is recruiting for a Field Service Engineer to join an established specialist engineering business providing service, maintenance, inspection and repair solutions to the commercial vehicle and heavy-duty workshop sector.

The role is field based, covering customer sites within the M25, Central London and areas immediately surrounding the M25.

The position offers door-to-door pay, meaning travel time is paid in line with the company’s terms, alongside a company van and specialist product training.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HGV Technician, Plant Fitter, Forklift Engineer, Garage Equipment Engineer, Mobile Service Engineer or mechanically biased Field Service Engineer looking for a varied mobile position with long-term development opportunities.

Previous experience working on this exact type of equipment is not essential. We are interested in engineers with strong mechanical skills, practical fault-finding ability and experience working with commercial vehicles, plant machinery, forklifts, hydraulics, lifting equipment or other heavy machinery.

    The Role

As a Field Service Engineer, you will travel directly from home to customer sites across your territory. You will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, inspecting and repairing specialist workshop equipment.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    *

    Planned preventative maintenance and servicing

    *

Mechanical, electrical and hydraulic fault finding

    *

    Attending breakdowns and completing repairs

    *

    Inspecting equipment and identifying defects

    *

Replacing mechanical, electrical and hydraulic components

    *

Completing service reports and technical documentation

    *

Managing your workload and service schedule

    *

Providing a professional service to customers

    *

Working safely and independently at customer sites

    *

Completing manufacturer and product-specific technical training

    Candidate Background

We would be particularly interested in speaking with engineers from HGV, commercial vehicle, heavy plant, forklift, material handling, GSE, agricultural machinery, garage equipment or other mobile engineering backgrounds.

You may currently be working as a Field Service Engineer, HGV Technician, Plant Fitter, Forklift Engineer, Mobile Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Workshop Engineer or similar.

The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical maintenance and repair skills, practical fault-finding experience and some exposure to electrical or hydraulic systems.

A full UK driving licence is essential due to the field-based nature of the position.

    Package

    *

£35,000–£40,000 basic salary, depending on experience

    *

    Door-to-door pay

    *

    Company van

    *

    Specialist technical and product training

    *

    Permanent, full-time position

    *

    Long-term career development

    *

Varied field-based work across London and the M25

This opportunity would suit a practical, hands-on engineer who enjoys fault finding, repairing equipment and working independently in the field.

You do not need previous garage equipment experience. If you have strong transferable mechanical skills and are interested in developing within a specialist engineering environment, we would be interested in speaking with you.

Apply today with your CV. Suitable candidates will be contacted by CWS for a confidential discussion about the opportunity
