How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Assistant Design Manager

    Location: London & Home Counties
    Salary: £45,000–£50,000 + Package

    About the Company

    Our client is a well-established, award-winning main contractor renowned for delivering high-end residential, commercial, hospitality and mixed-use developments across London and the South East. With an excellent reputation for quality, innovation and client satisfaction, they continue to secure prestigious projects ranging from £20m to £200m.

    Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an Assistant Design Manager to join their expanding team.

    The Role

    Working alongside experienced Design Managers, you'll assist in coordinating the design process from pre-construction through to project completion, ensuring design information is delivered on programme, fully coordinated and in line with the client's expectations.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Design Coordinator or Assistant Design Manager looking to progress their career with a leading Tier 1/Main Contractor.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Support the Design Manager in coordinating the design process across multiple project stages.

    * Liaise with architects, consultants, subcontractors and internal project teams.

    * Review design information for buildability, compliance and coordination.

    * Monitor design deliverables against project programmes.

    * Coordinate and track RFIs, technical queries and design changes.

    * Attend design meetings and issue meeting minutes and action trackers.

    * Assist with managing consultant appointments and design responsibilities.

    * Support the review of subcontractor design packages.

    * Ensure document control procedures are followed throughout the project lifecycle.

    * Work closely with site teams to resolve technical and design-related issues.

    * Assist with value engineering exercises while maintaining quality and specification.

    * Ensure compliance with Building Regulations, CDM Regulations and company standards.

    Requirements

    * Degree, HNC or HND in Construction Management, Architecture, Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.

    * Previous experience as a Design Coordinator, Assistant Design Manager or similar role.

    * Experience working for a UK main contractor or design & build contractor.

    * Strong understanding of the construction process and design coordination.

    * Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.

    * Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

    * Highly organised with strong attention to detail.

    * Proficient in Microsoft Office and document management platforms such as Asite, Aconex or Viewpoint.

    Desirable

    * Experience delivering high-end residential, commercial or mixed-use projects.

    * Knowledge of BIM processes and design coordination software.

    * Understanding of the Building Safety Act and current UK Building Regulations.

    * CSCS Card.
