How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Assistant Project Manager (Mechanical Bias)

    We are supporting a well-established, family-owned business that is seeking a process-driven Assistant Project Manager with a strong mechanical engineering background and a genuine desire to learn, develop, and build a long-term career within the company.

    This opportunity is particularly well suited to service leavers who have gained significant engineering and operational experience maintaining complex military equipment and are looking to transition into the construction and fit out industry.     Working within a close knit and supportive team, you will play a key role in delivering high quality fit-out and refurbishment projects.     Key Responsibilities

    * Support the Project Manager in the successful delivery of multi-million-pound fit-out and refurbishment projects.

    * Build and maintain strong working relationships with site teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.

    * Interpret technical drawings and specifications, ensuring designs are effectively delivered on site.

    * Monitor project progress, providing regular updates to key stakeholders throughout each stage of the project.

    * Keep up to date with the latest industry technologies and best practices to drive continuous improvement.

    * Ensure all works are completed in accordance with company quality standards, health and safety requirements, and project specifications.

    Requirements

    * Ideally, a background maintaining complex, high-value military equipment within the Armed Forces.

    * Hands-on engineering experience with strong mechanical knowledge; HVAC experience would be highly advantageous.

    * Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate site teams effectively.

    * An understanding of project budgets, cost control, and financial awareness.

    * Knowledge of relevant health, safety, and compliance standards.

    * A proactive, solutions-focused approach with a willingness to learn and develop professionally.
