How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    About the Role

Ready for a career that's truly different?

Mountain Healthcare's one of the UK's leading providers of forensic healthcare, delivering specialist care within police custody and the wider criminal justice system. Guided by our values of Being Kind and Doing the Right Thing, we support some of the most vulnerable people in our communities.

We are seeking Registered Nurses and Paramedics to join us as Forensic Custody Healthcare Professionals.

This is an opportunity to step beyond traditional healthcare settings into a rewarding role offering autonomy, variety & professional challenge. Working alongside police and criminal justice partners, you'll assess, treat & support detainees, using your clinical expertise to safeguard welfare and influence important decisions.

No two shifts are the same. You could be managing acute healthcare needs one moment and supporting a vulnerable person in crisis the next. Your clinical judgement, compassion and professionalism will make a real difference every day.

No forensic or custody experience is required.

We provide accredited training, support & a structured development programme to help you succeed in this specialist field.

Are you a Registered Nurse or Paramedic with at least 3 years' post-registration experience in an acute or urgent care setting and are looking for a role with purpose, independence and impact? We would love to hear from you.

Join Mountain Healthcare and build a career where your skills and decisions truly matter.

    Job Opportunity

As a Forensic Custody Healthcare Professional, you will deliver high-quality healthcare to people detained in police custody, many of whom have complex physical health, mental health, substance misuse or safeguarding needs. Working autonomously in a fast-paced environment, you will assess, treat and support detainees while ensuring their safety and well-being.

This unique role combines clinical practice, safeguarding and forensic healthcare. No two shifts are the same. You will assess fitness for detention, interview, charge and release, manage acute presentations, respond to emergencies and provide advice to custody teams and partner agencies. Your clinical judgement will support safe decision-making and positive outcomes for vulnerable individuals.

You will also undertake specialist forensic duties, including injury assessment, evidential sample collection, and maintaining accurate clinical and legal records. Working with police, NHS and partner agencies, you will support detainee care in custody and on release.

    Key responsibilities include:

    * Clinical and capacity assessments.

    * Managing acute healthcare needs and emergencies.

    * Supporting mental health, substance misuse and safeguarding needs.

    * Collecting and documenting forensic evidence.

    * Maintaining accurate clinical and evidential records.

    * Working collaboratively with police, NHS and partner agencies.

    * Attending hospital blood procedures under the Road Traffic Act.

    * Providing professional statements and court attendance when required..

    Essential Skills

    What we're looking for:

Registered General Nurse with current NMC registration, or Paramedic with current HCPC registration.
At least three years' post-qualification experience in an acute or relevant setting, such as frontline ambulance, A&E, prison, custody or urgent care.
Strong assessment, communication and decision-making skills, with confidence working autonomously.
A calm, professional and compassionate approach with vulnerable people, including those who may be distressed, intoxicated or experiencing acute mental health symptoms.
Full UK driving licence with fewer than six penalty points.
Ability to complete enhanced DBS clearance and police vetting.
Full right to work in the UK and a minimum of three years' UK residency prior to application.
Willingness to complete externally accredited forensic training within the first year of employment.

    Working pattern and location

Full-time employees are contracted to 42 hours per week.
The main place of work will be Loddon Valley Custody Suite.

    What we offer:

A joining bonus of up to £1500 FTE pro rata (for example - £750 paid after probation period and £750 paid after a year in the role)
    Recommend a friend £500
    NMC HCPC registration paid
    Access to company pension scheme
    Overtime at enhanced rates
A supportive, values driven culture where professionalism and compassion are genuinely recognised
A unique clinical environment where no two shifts are the same
Exposure to specialist forensic skills including evidential documentation and forensic sampling
Opportunities to progress within one of the UK's most respected forensic healthcare providers
Accredited forensic training and structured development
