How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Principal / Associate Civil Engineer

    About the Company

    Our client is an established multidisciplinary consultancy with nearly 20 years of experience delivering expert planning, civil engineering and environmental consultancy services across the UK. They work on a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, industrial and renewable energy developments, providing innovative, sustainable and technically robust solutions from concept through to project delivery.

    As part of their continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Principal or Associate Civil Engineer to join their expanding team.

    The Role

    This is an exciting opportunity for a senior Civil Engineer to take a leading role in the delivery of flood risk and drainage projects across a wide range of development sectors. Working remotely as part of a collaborative and experienced team, you will lead projects, provide technical expertise, mentor junior engineers and build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.

    The role offers significant autonomy alongside the opportunity to influence project delivery and contribute to the continued growth of the civil engineering team.

    Key Responsibilities

    Lead the delivery of flood risk assessments, drainage strategies and detailed drainage design.
    Prepare and review technical reports, calculations and engineering designs.
    Design sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) and surface water management solutions.
    Manage projects from initial feasibility through to planning and detailed design.
    Liaise with clients, local authorities and statutory consultees.
    Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers.
    Ensure projects are delivered to programme, budget and the highest technical standards.
    Support business development activities and contribute to client relationship management.About You

    The successful candidate will have:

    A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
    Significant post-qualification experience, ideally at Principal or Associate level.
    Strong expertise in flood risk assessments, drainage strategies and SuDS design.
    Experience using industry-standard software such as MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage or Causeway Flow.
    A sound understanding of UK drainage legislation, planning policy and design standards.
    Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
    The ability to lead projects and manage multiple priorities effectively.
    Chartered status (ICE) or working towards chartership would be advantageous.What's on Offer
