How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Job Title: Electronic Engineer
    Location: Birmingham (one day onsite per fortnight)
    Salary: Up to £60K (DOE)

    We’re looking for an experienced Electronic Engineer to join a growing team developing innovative electronic products. This is an excellent opportunity to work across hardware design, embedded firmware and product development within a collaborative engineering environment.
    You’ll play a key role in the development of innovative electronic products within a supportive R&D environment, with exposure to hardware, firmware and product validation activities.
      
    The Role

    Supporting electrical circuit design and PCB layout improvements to optimise manufacturability.
    Developing, debugging and testing embedded firmware for digital electronic products.
    Investigating, resolving and documenting hardware and firmware issues.
    Supporting electrical testing, validation and performance improvements.
    Delivering small hardware or firmware features independently as part of wider development projects.
    Producing and maintaining technical documentation while contributing within an Agile/Scrum development environment.   
    About You

    Previous experience designing PCBs for industrial electronic products.
    Strong background in electronic circuit design.
    Good understanding of PCB layout and design for manufacture.
    Knowledge of Digital Signal Processing (DSP).
    Knowledge of EMC best practices, RoHS and WEEE compliance.
    Experience with embedded or systems programming using C and Verilog.
    Experience using PCB design and schematic capture tools such as Altium or KiCad.
    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a systematic approach to root cause analysis.
    Able to work both independently and as part of a collaborative engineering team.   
    Desirable Skills

    Experience designing to ATEX (IEC (phone number removed).
    Experience with IEC (phone number removed) environmental testing standards.
    PLC programming experience, particularly Siemens S7.
    Familiarity with STM32 microcontrollers and Zynq SoCs.
