How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The Opportunity

Working as part of the Quality Control team, you will perform routine analysis of raw materials, in-process samples and finished products using a range of analytical techniques. This is a hands-on laboratory role within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    - Perform analytical testing of raw materials, intermediates and finished products.

    - Operate GC, HPLC, FTIR and Karl Fischer instrumentation.

    - Carry out wet chemistry techniques including titrations.

    - Prepare samples, standards and reagents.

    - Record, review and report analytical results accurately.

    - Support investigations into out-of-specification results.

    - Maintain laboratory equipment and documentation.

    - Ensure compliance with laboratory quality, HSE and COSHH procedures.

    - Work closely with production and technical teams to support manufacturing.

    About You

To be considered, you should have:

    - A BSc (or equivalent) in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.

    - Previous experience within a QC or analytical laboratory.

    - Essential: Hands-on industrial experience operating both GC and HPLC.

    - Experience using FTIR and Karl Fischer would be advantageous.

    - Wet chemistry experience, including titrations.

    - Strong attention to detail and good laboratory documentation skills.

    - A good understanding of laboratory safety and quality procedures.

    - The ability to work effectively within a busy laboratory environment.

    Why Apply?

    - Immediate start available.

    - Join an established chemical manufacturing business.

    - Work with a wide range of analytical techniques.

For a confidential discussion, please contact Talent STEM directly.

Important: Applicants must have the unrestricted right to work in the UK. Unfortunately, this role is not eligible for visa sponsorship, and we are unable to consider applications from candidates who require sponsorship now or at any point in the future.

Talent STEM is a specialist recruitment consultancy supporting the scientific, engineering, chemical, pharmaceutical, environmental, waste, biotechnology, medical device and manufacturing sectors
