How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Electrical Estimator / Tendering Engineer
    Location: Wigan
    Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 + Excellent Benefits
Looking for more than just another estimating role?
We're recruiting on behalf of a successful and growing UK engineering business that designs and manufactures specialist electrical power solutions for customers operating across critical infrastructure, utilities and industrial sectors throughout the UK.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established organisation with an outstanding reputation for technical excellence, quality and customer service. More importantly, it's a business where people genuinely enjoy coming to work. The culture is collaborative, supportive and down-to-earth, with a leadership team that values ideas, recognises hard work and invests in its employees for the long term.
Whether you're an experienced Electrical Estimator, Tendering Engineer or have a strong electrical background with estimating experience, we'd love to hear from you.
    The Opportunity
This is a varied and rewarding role where you'll be responsible for preparing accurate, commercially competitive quotations and tender submissions for bespoke electrical engineering projects.
Working closely with Design, Production and Procurement teams, you'll help develop technical solutions that are both commercially viable and deliverable, playing an important role in securing new business and supporting the continued growth of the company.
No two projects are the same, making this an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining technical problem-solving with commercial awareness.
    Key Responsibilities
    *
Prepare accurate quotations and tender submissions for electrical engineering projects.
    *
Interpret electrical drawings, specifications and customer requirements.
    *
Produce detailed cost estimates covering materials, labour and project risk.
    *
Work closely with Design, Production and Procurement to ensure technically compliant and commercially competitive proposals.
    *
Support bid reviews and identify opportunities for value engineering where appropriate.
    *
Ensure tender submissions meet customer requirements, industry standards and internal quality procedures.
    *
Build strong working relationships across the business to deliver high-quality tender submissions.
    About You
We're far more interested in finding the right person than someone who ticks every single box.
    You'll ideally have:
    *
An electrical qualification (HNC, HND, apprenticeship or equivalent).
    *
Experience working as an Electrical Estimator, Tendering Engineer or in a similar estimating role.
    *
The ability to interpret electrical drawings and technical specifications.
    *
Good commercial awareness and attention to detail.
    *
    Strong communication and organisational skills.
    *
A proactive attitude with the ability to work collaboratively within a close-knit team.
Experience in any of the following would be advantageous, although not essential:
    Electrical Distribution
    Switchgear
    Control Panels
    Building Services
    Industrial Electrical Engineering
    Power Generation
    Critical Power
    UPS Systems
    Industrial Battery Systems
    Utilities
    Manufacturing
    Rail
    Renewable Energy
    Industrial Automation
If you've worked within electrical estimating but your background isn't an exact match, we'd still encourage you to apply.
    What's on Offer?
    *
Salary of £50,000-£55,000 (depending on experience)
    *
    Company Pension Scheme
    *
    Life Assurance
    *
    Company Sick Pay
    *
    Cycle to Work Scheme
    *
Increasing annual leave with length of service
    *
    Free on-site parking
    *
Stable, growing business with an excellent reputation
    *
    Friendly, supportive team environment
    *
    Genuine long-term career prospects
