How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    About the Role

    This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading civil engineering and infrastructure specialist delivering some of the UK’s most significant water infrastructure projects.

    As the industry enters a period of unprecedented investment, our client is expanding its commercial teams to support a major programme of works focused on innovation, sustainability, and building a better environment for future generations.

    As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will act as the commercial conscience of the delivery team, providing expert cost and commercial support across a range of complex civil engineering projects. Working closely with project managers, site teams, and key stakeholders, you’ll play a vital role in controlling costs, maximising value, managing risk, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and successfully.

    This role offers the opportunity to work on challenging, high-profile infrastructure schemes while developing your career within a collaborative and forward-thinking commercial environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Manage all aspects of commercial and cost management across allocated projects or programmes of work

    * Lead robust cost control processes, ensuring accurate reporting, forecasting, and commercial analysis

    * Provide commercial insight to support key project decisions and drive successful outcomes

    * Ensure project teams understand contractual obligations and commercial requirements

    * Work collaboratively with delivery teams to identify and implement efficiency improvements

    * Monitor project performance, manage risk, and support value improvement initiatives

    * Maintain accurate records, including project accounts and final accounts, ensuring audit and assurance requirements are met

    * Support compliance with internal governance, contractual obligations, and client requirements

    About You

    We’re looking for an experienced and commercially driven Senior Quantity Surveyor who thrives in a collaborative project environment and enjoys making a tangible impact on delivery.

    Essential:

    * Extensive experience managing costs within construction, civil engineering, or infrastructure projects

    * Strong commercial awareness with the ability to analyse data, identify opportunities, and manage risk

    * Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

    * Ability to work collaboratively with project delivery teams and senior stakeholders

    Desirable:

    * Degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline

    * Experience working within infrastructure, utilities, or major projects

    * Membership of a professional body or working towards professional accreditation

    What’s on Offer

    * Competitive salary package

    * Company pension and life assurance

    * Private medical cover

    * 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays and loyalty days

    * Flexible benefits through salary sacrifice

    * Employee Assistance Programme supporting mental, physical, and financial wellbeing

    * Leadership development, coaching, and structured career progression

    * Internal and external training opportunities

    * Continuous service recognition awards

    * Opportunities to work on some of the UK’s most important infrastructure projects

    Join a team where your commercial expertise will help shape major projects, improve communities, and contribute to a more sustainable future
