How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic General Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive primary school in Leicester. This is a full-time, ongoing position, offering an excellent opportunity to become part of a committed school community and make a positive impact on pupils' learning and development.

The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers to support pupils across the primary age range, helping to deliver engaging lessons and ensuring all children are able to reach their full potential. You will play a key role in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment, providing both classroom support and individual assistance where required.

As a General Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils with a range of learning abilities, assisting with classroom activities, preparing learning resources, and encouraging pupils to remain engaged and motivated throughout the school day. You may also provide one-to-one or small group interventions to help children develop their literacy, numeracy, and social skills.

The role requires someone who is proactive, adaptable, and confident in supporting pupils with varying needs. You will work collaboratively with teaching staff to promote positive behaviour, encourage independence, and contribute to the overall wellbeing and academic progress of the children.

Previous experience working within a primary school or educational setting is desirable, although candidates with transferable skills and a genuine passion for supporting children's learning are also encouraged to apply. Strong communication skills, patience, and the ability to build positive relationships with both pupils and colleagues are essential.

    Key Responsibilities:

Support the class teacher with the delivery of engaging and inclusive lessons.

Work with individual pupils and small groups to reinforce learning and improve outcomes.

Assist with the preparation of classroom resources and learning materials.

Promote positive behaviour and support the school's behaviour policy.

Encourage pupil participation, confidence, and independence.

Help create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment.

Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to the class teacher where appropriate.

Support pupils during break times, educational activities, and school events when required.

    Requirements:

Previous experience working with children in a primary school or similar educational setting is desirable.

A positive, enthusiastic, and flexible attitude towards supporting learning.

    Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

The ability to work effectively as part of a team.

A patient, caring, and supportive approach.

A genuine passion for helping children develop academically, socially, and emotionally.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a friendly and inclusive primary school where you can make a real difference in the classroom every day. If you are a motivated and reliable Teaching Assistant looking for your next opportunity in Leicester, we would love to hear from you
