How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Family Support Workers

    Location: Loughborough, Leicestershire
    Working Hours: Part-Time (18 & 22.5 hours) and Full-Time (37 hours)
    Salary: £13.38 per hour

    Our client is a domestic and sexual abuse charity based in Loughborough, Leicestershire. They provide support to men, women and children affected by domestic abuse and/or sexual violence across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

    The Role

    You will provide direct, trauma-informed support to children, young people, and families affected by domestic abuse and/or sexual violence. This includes one-to-one work, group programmes, and delivering awareness and education sessions in schools, youth settings, and with local practitioners. You will also contribute to safeguarding, case management, and multi-agency working.

    Key responsibilities:

    Deliver one-to-one support and group programmes for children and young people affected by domestic abuse and/or sexual violence
    Provide healthy relationships sessions in schools and youth settings
    Deliver training and awareness-raising sessions for local practitioners
    Maintain accurate and confidential client records including referrals, risk and needs assessments, support and safety plans, and case notes
    Work collaboratively with external agencies, including Early Help and safeguarding partners, making appropriate referrals where required
    Attend and represent the organisation at meetings, conferences, and forums as required
    Contribute to internal meetings, reporting on service developments, issues, and requirements, and supporting service improvement
    Support organisational decision-making and contribute to discussions affecting service delivery and clients
    Maintain confidentiality and adhere strictly to all organisational policies and procedures
    Work to the highest standards of service provision at all times
    Support the wider aims and objectives of the organisation, undertaking additional duties as reasonably required
    Requirements

    Essential

    Recognised qualification in social work, education, youth and community, family work or a related field, or at least three years’ paid or unpaid experience working with children and young people in one-to-one and group settings
    Understanding of domestic abuse and sexual violence and their impact on individuals and families
    Experience working with families, including knowledge of crisis intervention
    Understanding of multi-agency working, Early Help, child protection, and safeguarding procedures
    Full UK driving licence and access to a car
    Experience working under pressure with the ability to prioritise workload
    Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills
    Competent in using IT systems, email, and internet-based tools
    Ability to use initiative and make appropriate decisions within organisational boundaries
    Understanding of confidentiality and equal opportunities practice
    Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends where required
    Experience maintaining professional relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
    Desirable

    Experience working with people affected by domestic abuse and/or in crises
    Experience within the voluntary or charity sector
    Experience delivering training or awareness-raising sessions
