How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

As a company, they work together to innovate and drive new product collaborations with their customers. They are currently recruiting for a Software Engineer to join their team and help them deliver the next versions of their RF technologies to market.
Projects are challenging. Their innovations combine software with algorithms used for RF hardware, which means real world applications and sound software engineering practices with a strong aptitude for applied maths. Their algorithms may arise from maths models or signals from early prototypes, they all need to be understood and best utilised in the resultant software.
    Requirements:
    * Extensive demonstrable experience (applied to industry) for software projects related to hardware products (ideally a smart RF device). This should include familiarity with a range of software languages and technologies including Python (and possibly C or C++).
    * Experience with hardware based algorithms and implementation of them using Python.
    * Strong software engineering experience including the use of unit testing, application of algorithms and relevant validation processes.
    * Experience (or exposure) to RF applications would be highly desirable. This could include RF measurements, real time wireless systems or communication protocols.
    * Strong academic achievement (including A*/A grades in maths and physics pre-university) and a high 2.1 / 1st in electronics, computer science, physics of similar from a top ranked university.
Due to projects involving hardware, the role would be mostly based onsite at their Cambridge offices (occasional hybrid working is possible when projects allow).
On offer is a competitive salary and wide-ranging package including private medical insurance, enhanced pension, share options and access to a flexible benefits scheme.
Keywords: Python, DSP, Algorithms, RF Engineering, Optimisation, Hardware, Smart Devices, Mobile Applications, Signal Processing, Software Engineering, Test / Verification, Wireless, Communications, Cambridge, Onsite / Occasional Hybrid
