How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Cafe Supervisor - Denmark Hill

At KCLSU, our vision is to create a future where every student has the opportunity to thrive. Together with our members, we are a union of students where individuals love their university experience, are involved in shaping the future, and have the power to make change and connect to each other.

We work to achieve this in a way that is aligned to our values - Inclusive, Collaborative, Open and Brave. These values guide how we behave, and how we go about our work.

As the Cafe Supervisor at Denmark Hill, you lead the daily operations of this brand-new café, and you will:

Oversee smooth service delivery, exceptional customer experiences, and compliance with operational standards.
Lead by hands-on example during service, and maintain strong product knowledge.
Build Denmark Hill Café’s welcoming atmosphere, service quality, and brand identity

In addition to operational leadership, you will work closely with the Associate Director of Commercial Operations, contributing to the development, improvement, and delivery of services and activities at Denmark Hill café. This includes supporting strategic initiatives, sharing ideas to enhance service and customer engagement, assisting with the planning and coordination of promotions or events, and helping implement commercial strategies that drive growth, efficiency, and overall customer satisfaction.

This Cafe Supervisor role is a really exciting new opportunity for a self-starter, who appreciates a good level of autonomy and trust being put on them day-to-day.

To apply for this role, please fill in an application form and include a personal statement, detailing how you meet the person specification, which is attached.

To be eligible to apply for this role you must:

Be eligible to work in the UK, and provide proof of this (i.e. a passport / visa) when asked by KCLSU. Please note that KCLSU is unable to offer visa sponsorship.
Have a National Insurance number, or be in the process of applying for one.
Not be a trustee of King's College London Students' Union.
