How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a leading international Mechanical, Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering contractor on a major energy infrastructure project based at Drax, North Yorkshire.

    The Role

    As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take ownership of the commercial and contractual aspects of the project throughout its lifecycle, while supporting the successful delivery of a major engineering project.

    Key Responsibilities

    Managing the commercial and contractual requirements of the project from start to completion.
    Acting as the commercial interface with the client and contract team.
    Managing project procurement, including subcontractor packages.
    Conducting cost and risk analysis.
    Reviewing contractual correspondence from clients, design teams and subcontractors, identifying key commercial issues and preparing responses.
    Managing the commercial performance of subcontractors.
    Producing project costing, margin and cashflow reports.
    Managing change order procedures and negotiating costs with the client.
    Preparing monthly valuations and certificates.
    Negotiating and agreeing final accounts.

    About You

    To be considered, you should have:

    A degree (or equivalent third-level qualification) in Quantity Surveying or Construction Economics.
    A minimum of 5 years' experience working as a Quantity Surveyor.
    Previous experience leading or managing a team.
    Good knowledge of construction contracts and commercial procedures.
    Experience managing or assessing contractual claims from either a contractor, consultant or client-side environment.
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
    Excellent attention to detail.
    The ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
    A collaborative approach and the ability to work within a high-performing team.
