How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Test Engineer (Manual & Automation)

Newcastle upon Tyne | Hybrid (3 days in the office) | Permanent | Competitive Salary + Benefits

Are you a Test Engineer with 2-3 years' commercial experience looking to build on your manual testing skills while developing your automation expertise?

We're looking for a motivated QA professional to join a collaborative Agile development team working on a market-leading software platform used by customers around the world. This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in manual testing and some exposure to automation who wants the opportunity to take on more automated testing as they progress.

You'll join a team where quality is genuinely valued, working alongside experienced developers and QA engineers who will support your continued learning and career development.

    The Role

You'll play an important role in ensuring software releases are delivered to the highest standard by carrying out a combination of manual and automated testing across web, desktop and mobile applications.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    * Executing manual functional and regression testing

    * Creating, maintaining and executing automated test scripts

    * Identifying, logging and tracking defects through to resolution

    * Performing cross-browser and cross-device testing

    * Working closely with developers to investigate and resolve issues

    * Supporting release testing within an Agile environment

    * Continuously improving testing processes and automation coverage

    What We're Looking For

    You'll ideally have:

    * 2-3 years' commercial software testing experience

    * Strong manual testing experience across web applications

    * Some hands-on experience with automation testing tools such as Cypress, Playwright or similar

    * An interest in developing your automation testing skills further

    * Experience with defect management tools such as Jira

    * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

    * Excellent attention to detail and communication skills

    Nice to Have

    * API testing experience

    * Basic SQL or database querying

    * Experience working in Agile teams

    * Knowledge of Git or Linux

    Why Apply?

This is an excellent opportunity to join a business with a strong engineering culture where QA is seen as an integral part of the development process—not just a final step.

You'll be encouraged to expand your automation testing skills, work with modern testing tools and play an active role in shaping the QA function as the team continues to grow.

    Benefits

    * Hybrid working (3 days in the office)
