How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Estimator | Highways & Street Lighting | Remote (UK) |£44,000-£55,000 + Car Allowance
    Estimator – Remote Opportunity
    Are you an experienced Estimator looking for your next opportunity within the highways and electrical infrastructure sector?
    We are recruiting for an Estimator to join a growing and successful contractor delivering highways electrical and street lighting projects across the UK. This is a remote-based role with occasional travel to client sites and regional offices as required.
    Whether you're already working as an Estimator, Electrical Estimator, or Highways Estimator, or you're looking to step into estimating from a commercial or administrative background, we'd like to hear from you.
    What's on Offer
    * Salary of £39,000 - £44,000 depending on experience.
    * Car allowance.
    * Remote working with UK-wide projects.
    * Full-time temporary position with genuine temp-to-perm opportunity.

    The Role
    As an Estimator, you'll be responsible for producing accurate quotations and competitive tenders for highways electrical and street lighting projects ranging from £1,000 to over £500,000. You'll work closely with operational teams and clients, helping to secure new business while maintaining excellent relationships with existing customers.
    Key Responsibilities
    * Prepare tenders, quotations and cost estimates from drawings, specifications and client requirements.
    * Visit sites and attend client meetings when required.
    * Build and maintain relationships with new and existing clients.
    * Support business development by identifying new opportunities.
    * Work with operational teams to develop commercially competitive solutions.
    * Manage multiple tenders while ensuring deadlines are achieved.
    About You
    To be successful, you'll ideally have experience in estimating within construction, highways, electrical infrastructure, utilities or civil engineering. However, candidates with strong commercial or administrative experience who are looking to progress into an Estimator role are also encouraged to apply.
    You should also have:
    * Excellent numerical, organisational and communication skills.
    * Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
    * The ability to interpret drawings and specifications (preferred).
    * A full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel when required.
