How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Associate Director - Infrastructure

    Norwich

    £80k-£90k plus benefits

Are you an experienced Civil Engineer ready to take the next step into a genuine leadership role where you can shape projects, influence strategy, and help build the future of a growing team?

Our client is a highly respected, independent engineering consultancy based in Norwich with an ambitious vision to redefine the way modern construction projects are designed and delivered. Their Directors are recognised for their technical excellence and practical approach, creating innovative engineering solutions that are not only technically robust but also commercially and practically deliverable.

As the business continues to grow, they are looking to appoint an Associate Director to lead their Civil Engineering team. This is far more than a technical role-it's an opportunity to become a key member of the leadership team, mentoring and developing engineers, driving technical excellence, and playing an instrumental role in the continued growth and success of the business.

You'll take ownership of a diverse portfolio of projects across sectors including commercial, healthcare, residential and mixed-use developments, providing strategic direction from concept through to delivery. Alongside managing client relationships and overseeing project delivery, you'll support the development of junior and mid-level engineers, sharing your knowledge and helping to foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture.

The successful candidate will hold a degree in Civil Engineering and bring significant consultancy experience, ideally at Principal or Associate level, with the ambition to step into a broader leadership position. You'll have a strong background in flood risk assessments, detailed drainage and SuDS design, earthworks, Section 278 works, Section 106 applications and build-over agreements, together with proficiency in Civil 3D. Just as importantly, you'll be an excellent communicator who enjoys building lasting client relationships, inspiring colleagues, and leading by example.

In return, you'll join a forward-thinking consultancy where your ideas will be valued, your leadership will have a genuine impact, and you'll have the autonomy to influence both projects and the future direction of the Civil Engineering team. This is an exceptional opportunity for someone looking to make their mark within a business that combines technical excellence with an ambitious and supportive culture.

If you're ready to take the next step in your career and play a pivotal role in a growing consultancy, we'd love to hear from you. Please send your up-to-date CV to Graham Ventham for a confidential discussion
