How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Housing Officer

    Location: Hackney, East London

    Salary: Competitive + Excellent Benefits

    Contract: Permanent | Full Time

Are you an experienced Housing Officer looking for a role where you can genuinely make a difference?

We're recruiting on behalf of a highly respected Tenant Management Organisation in Hackney that prides itself on delivering outstanding services to its residents.

This is an opportunity to become part of a close-knit organisation where your work will have a visible impact on the local community. You'll be responsible for delivering a broad range of housing management services, working directly with tenants, leaseholders, local authority partners and community organisations to ensure residents receive an excellent service.

If you're passionate about housing management, enjoy building strong relationships with residents and thrive in a varied role where no two days are the same, we'd love to hear from you.

    The Role

As Housing Officer, you will manage a varied housing management patch, delivering an efficient, customer-focused service whilst ensuring tenancy obligations are met and communities remain safe, sustainable and well managed.

You will take ownership of your caseload and work proactively to resolve issues, support residents and continuously improve service delivery.

    Your Responsibilities

    You'll be responsible for:

    *

Delivering a comprehensive generic housing management service.

    *

Managing tenancies from sign-up through to tenancy reviews and tenancy sustainment.

    *

Carrying out new tenant welcome visits and tenancy audits.

    *

Supporting residents experiencing financial hardship by promoting rent payment, budgeting advice and referrals to specialist support services.

    *

Managing rent arrears and contributing towards income collection targets.

    *

Investigating tenancy breaches including anti-social behaviour, nuisance, tenancy fraud, illegal subletting and abandoned properties.

    *

Processing tenancy changes including mutual exchanges, assignments, successions and other tenancy matters.

    *

Managing decants and acting as the main point of contact for affected residents.

    *

Undertaking regular estate inspections and identifying communal repairs, environmental issues, fire safety concerns and health and safety risks.

    *

Working closely with contractors and the local authority to ensure services are delivered effectively.

    *

Responding to resident enquiries and complaints professionally and efficiently.

    *

Supporting vulnerable residents by working alongside statutory and voluntary agencies.

    *

Promoting resident engagement and attending community meetings and events where required.

    *

Maintaining accurate housing records and preparing reports on casework and performance.

    About You

We're looking for someone who already has experience within social housing and understands the challenges of delivering front-line housing management services.

    You'll ideally have:

    *

Previous experience as a Housing Officer, Neighbourhood Officer, Tenancy Officer or Housing Management Officer.

    *

Strong knowledge of generic housing management.

    *

Experience managing tenancy breaches and anti-social behaviour cases.

    *

Experience of tenancy sustainment and income collection.

    *

Knowledge of current housing legislation and best practice.

    *

    Experience carrying out estate inspections.

    *

Excellent customer service and communication skills.

    *

Strong case management and problem-solving abilities.

    *

The ability to work independently whilst managing a busy and varied workload.

    *

Good IT skills and experience maintaining accurate case records.

We're Looking For Someone Who Is:

✔ Passionate about delivering excellent customer service.

✔ A confident communicator who can build positive relationships with residents and colleagues.

✔ Calm, professional and resilient when managing difficult situations.

✔ Organised, proactive and able to prioritise competing demands.

✔ A team player who enjoys working collaboratively.

✔ Committed to improving communities and making a genuine difference.

    Why Join Us?

This is an excellent opportunity to join an organisation where your contribution will be recognised and valued.

    In return you'll benefit from:

    *

    Competitive salary.

    *

    Stable, permanent employment.

    *

    Supportive and friendly working environment.

    *

    Ongoing professional development and training.

    *

A varied and rewarding role with real autonomy.

    *

The opportunity to have a genuine impact on the lives of residents and the wider community.
