How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

ATA Recruitment are working closely with a leading developer of advanced robotic systems to recruit a Design & Development Engineer for their growing engineering team in Birmingham.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join an innovative, R&D-driven business that designs and assembles cutting-edge robotic technology used to carry out inspections in difficult-to-access and safety-critical environments. Their products help eliminate the need for personnel to work at height by utilising sophisticated wall-climbing robotic systems.

This role would suit a Mechanical Design Engineer or Product Development Engineer who thrives on solving complex engineering challenges and wants to see their designs brought to life.

    The Role

As a Design & Development Engineer, you will be responsible for:

    Developing proof-of-principle designs and prototypes.
Designing complex mechanical assemblies and mechanisms.
Liaising with suppliers and subcontract manufacturers to source prototype and production components.
    Building and testing prototype equipment.
Supporting product validation and development activities.
Producing technical documentation and manufacturing information.
Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams including mechanical, electronics and software engineers.
    The Products

You will be involved in the development of innovative robotic systems incorporating:

    Complex mechanical assemblies
    Pulley and belt drive systems
    CNC machined components
    Sheet metal fabrications
    3D printed parts
    Aluminium and plastic enclosures
    About You

To be considered for this position, you should have:

Experience within a Design Engineering, Product Development or R&D environment.
Strong 3D CAD experience (SolidWorks preferred, although other CAD packages will be considered).
Experience developing products from concept through to manufacture.
    Experience producing detailed manufacturing drawings.
A hands-on approach to engineering and prototype development.
    Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
    Desirable Experience

    Mechatronics
    Advanced electromechanical products
    What's in it for You?

    Salary of £40,000 - £45,000
25 days holiday plus bank holidays
    Pension Scheme
Opportunity to work on genuinely innovative technology
