How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    About the Role

    We are looking for an experienced and motivated Section Engineer to join our team on a major tunnelling and piling project. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a technically challenging infrastructure scheme, supporting the successful delivery of complex underground and foundation works while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and productivity.

    Working closely with the Site Agent, Project Manager, and construction teams, you will take responsibility for planning, coordinating, and supervising sections of the works to ensure delivery in line with programme, budget, and specification.

    Section Engineer Key Responsibilities

    * Manage and coordinate day-to-day site activities within your allocated work section.

    * Supervise tunnelling, piling, and associated civil engineering operations.

    * Ensure works are carried out safely and in accordance with company procedures and statutory requirements.

    * Prepare and review RAMS, work packs, permits, and construction documentation.

    * Manage subcontractors and direct labour to achieve programme milestones.

    * Produce and maintain accurate site records, quality documentation, and progress reports.

    * Coordinate with the design team to resolve technical queries and implement design changes.

    * Monitor quality standards and ensure compliance with project specifications.

    * Assist with planning, sequencing, and resource allocation.

    * Identify and manage engineering risks, opportunities, and temporary works requirements.

    * Support commercial teams with measurement, records, and change management where required.

    * Promote a positive safety culture and lead by example on site.

    Section Engineer Requirements

    * Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.

    * Previous experience as a Section Engineer or Site Engineer on major civil engineering projects.

    * Proven experience in tunnelling, piling, deep foundations, or heavy civil engineering works.

    * Good understanding of construction methods, engineering principles, and quality assurance processes.

    * Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.

    * Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

    * Experience coordinating subcontractors and multidisciplinary teams.

    * Proficient in Microsoft Office and engineering documentation systems.

    * CSCS Card (essential).

    * SMSTS or SSSTS (preferred).

    * Temporary Works Coordinator or Supervisor training (desirable).
