How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Head of Business Studies – Slough | September 2026 Start | 

    Are you an ambitious and inspiring Business Studies teacher ready to take the next step in your leadership journey?

    We are currently seeking an exceptional Head of Business Studies to join a thriving and supportive secondary school in Slough from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Business Studies teacher or current middle leader to lead and develop a successful department, driving excellence in teaching, learning, and student achievement.

The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of the Business Studies department while fostering a culture of high expectations, innovation, and academic success.

    The successful Head of Business Studies will:

    Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
    Have a proven track record of delivering outstanding Business Studies lessons at Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5.
    Demonstrate strong leadership skills and the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop both students and colleagues.
    Be passionate about raising standards and improving outcomes for all learners.
    Have excellent curriculum knowledge and the ability to drive departmental improvement and innovation.
    Possess outstanding classroom management and organisational skills.
    Work collaboratively with senior leaders, colleagues, parents, and external stakeholders to promote excellence across the school.

    Key responsibilities include:

    Leading and managing the Business Studies department.
    Developing and implementing an ambitious and engaging curriculum.
    Monitoring and improving student progress and attainment.
    Supporting, coaching, and developing teaching staff within the department.
    Maintaining high standards of teaching, learning, behaviour, and achievement.
    Contributing to the wider strategic vision and success of the school.
