How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Design & Technology Teacher

    Location: Hull
    Role: Design and Technology Teacher (With engineering desirable) 
    Salary: £31,650 - £49,084 depending on experience 
    Start Date: September 2026 - December 2026 with the look to extend 
    Contract: Full-Time

    GSL Education are seeking an enthusiastic and resilient Design & Technology Teacher with Engineering experience to join a highly supportive Alternative Provision in Hull. This is an exceptional opportunity to make a lasting difference to the lives of young people who require a personalised, nurturing and inclusive approach to education.

    This specialist provision supports students who have experienced barriers to learning in mainstream education. The school provides a safe, structured environment where relationships, wellbeing and high aspirations are at the heart of everything they do. With small class sizes, excellent pastoral support and a collaborative staff team, teachers are empowered to build confidence, develop practical skills and re-engage students with learning.

    The successful candidate will deliver engaging Design & Technology lessons with a strong focus on Engineering, helping students develop practical problem-solving skills, creativity and confidence while preparing them for future education, employment and training. (ECT's Welcome) - Must have SEMH Experience.

    The Role as a Design and Technology Teacher:

    Plan and deliver high-quality Design & Technology lessons with a focus on Engineering.

    Inspire students through practical, hands-on learning experiences.

    Adapt teaching to meet the individual needs of learners with a range of additional needs, including SEMH.

    Create a safe, engaging and well-organised workshop environment.

    Assess, monitor and track student progress, providing constructive feedback.

    Build positive relationships with students, encouraging resilience, independence and personal growth.

    Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, pastoral teams and external professionals to support individual learning plans.

    Promote high standards of behaviour through positive behaviour management strategies.

    The Ideal Vocational Teacher will have:

    Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.

    Experience teaching Design & Technology, with Engineering specialism desirable.

    Knowledge of workshop health and safety procedures.

    Experience working with students with SEMH, SEND or within an Alternative Provision is desirable, although not essential.

    Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills.

    A flexible, patient and resilient approach to teaching.

    A genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers and achieve success.
