How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

We are recruiting for a Design Technician on behalf of our client, a well-established engineering business known for producing high-quality, bespoke engineered products. This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly organised, detail-focused CAD professional who takes real pride in accurate data, clean documentation and well-managed design libraries.

You'll play a key role in supporting the design engineering team, taking ownership of the company's CAD data library and standard parts, while helping to keep projects moving efficiently by handling information management tasks that free up engineers to focus on new design work.

    What You'll Be Responsible For

    - Maintaining the CAD data management library, ensuring the file structure is kept clean and that design engineers always have access to the latest, up-to-date standard parts
    - Taking ownership of standard product and part updates
    - Supporting design engineers by removing various information management tasks from their workload
    - Handling small proprietary part call-ups, including producing manufacturing drawings

    Key Duties

    - Daily maintenance of the CAD data library, including file structure and standard parts library upkeep
    - Maintenance and revision control of all standard parts
    - Maintenance of ERP part numbering
    - 3D modelling of product updates and changes
    - Development and 3D modelling of new parts and products for addition to the library
    - Creation of standard Bills of Materials (BOMs)
    - Producing manufacturing issue packs
    - Producing installation drawing packs
    - Creating manufacturing drawings and BOMs for proprietary call-ups and occasional small works
    - Creating project dossiers

    What We're Looking For

    - 1-2 years experience post degree OR HNC

    - Good 3D CAD modelling skills (Inventor)
    - Good 2D CAD knowledge (AutoCAD)

    - Ideally some knowledge of Autodesk Vault
    - Good Microsoft Office skills
    - Knowledge of ERP systems (EFACS)

***Please note this client cannot offer sponsorship.

    Personal Attributes:

    - Highly organised, with the ability to manage large numbers of drawings, parts and BOMs on a daily basis
    - Detail-oriented, with a sharp eye for checking part numbers, revisions, quantities, file names and standard parts
    - Process-driven, thriving on correct processes, accurate data and clear documentation

If you're a methodical, detail-driven CAD professional who enjoys bringing order and efficiency to a busy design environment, we'd love to hear from you.
