How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Waterlooville, Portsmouth
    £12.76 - £14.00 per hour
    Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm (Term Time Only)

    About the Role

    We are recruiting enthusiastic, reliable and dedicated Teaching Assistants to join a welcoming secondary school in Waterlooville, Portsmouth.

    Essential Requirement – Please Read Before Applying

    Applicants MUST be able to provide evidence of GCSE English and GCSE Maths (Grade C/4 or above, or equivalent).

    You will be required to provide copies of your GCSE certificates (or recognised equivalent qualification) as part of the recruitment process.

    Unfortunately, if you are unable to provide evidence of both English and Maths qualifications, your application will not be progressed.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Supporting students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups

    * Assisting teachers with delivering engaging lessons and classroom activities

    * Providing additional support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) where required

    * Encouraging positive behaviour, participation and engagement in lessons

    * Working closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to support student progress

    Requirements

    * A genuine passion for supporting young people

    * Able to work Monday to Friday during term time

    * Right to work in the UK

    * Evidence of GCSE English and GCSE Maths (Grade C/4 or above, or equivalent) is essential

    * Willingness to undertake an Enhanced DBS check (or already registered on the DBS Update Service)

    Desirable Experience

    We welcome applicants with experience in:

    * Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant (LSA) roles

    * Secondary school settings

    * SEN support

    * Youth work or mentoring

    * Care or support work

    * Coaching or working with young people

    * Supporting students with Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia or other additional learning needs

    Desirable Qualifications

    * Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification

    * CACHE Supporting Teaching and Learning

    * Qualifications in Education, Childcare, Psychology or Health & Social Care
