How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Director of CTEC

    Salary £69,091

Leeds College of Building is entering an exciting and nationally significant new phase of development.

In August 2025, we were designated as the Construction Technical Excellence College (CTEC) for Yorkshire & Humber, one of only ten national providers leading the transformation of construction education and skills. Over the past 12 months, we have worked closely with the Department for Education (DfE) through a test and learn phase, shaping the CTEC model and building strong partnerships across the region.

We are now moving into the critical delivery phase, and we are seeking an outstanding strategic leader to take this work forward as our Director of CTEC (Yorkshire & Humber).

Reporting to the Vice Principal Curriculum, Quality and Innovation, this is a pivotal strategic leadership role responsible for driving the success of the Construction Technical Excellence College (CTEC) across the Yorkshire & Humber region.

As the senior regional lead, you will shape and deliver a clear and ambitious CTEC strategy, ensuring alignment between local, regional and national priorities while responding to the evolving needs of the construction sector. You will work collaboratively with a wide range of partners, including employers, combined authorities, government departments and education providers, building strong relationships that support innovation, skills development and sustainable growth.

The role will require you to lead major strands of activity such as industry engagement, teacher industry exchange, and high-quality industry placements, ensuring these deliver meaningful impact for learners, employers and the wider economy. You will represent both CTEC and Leeds College of Building at regional and national levels, contributing to policy discussions and influencing the future direction of construction education. Alongside this, you will have oversight of performance, impact and investment, ensuring that delivery is effective, aligned to funding priorities and demonstrates clear value. This is a highly visible and influential role, central to raising the profile of CTEC and positioning the College as a leader in technical excellence.

    Who We’re Looking For

We are seeking a dynamic, confident and collaborative leader who can combine strategic vision with a strong focus on delivery. You will bring significant experience of leading high-performing teams, projects or services, with a track record of driving improvement and achieving impactful outcomes.

Comfortable working with complexity, you will be skilled in analysing and interpreting information, shaping clear solutions and implementing them effectively. You will have experience of working with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, building strong relationships and influencing across organisational and regional boundaries. A strong understanding of the further education and skills landscape, alongside a commitment to inclusivity, innovation and continuous improvement, will be essential. Above all, you will be someone who can bring people together, inspire confidence and deliver results in a high-profile and developing environment.

    Why Join Us?.

Leeds College of Building is the UK’s only specialist general further education college for construction and the built environment, with a long-standing reputation for excellence, innovation and strong employer engagement.

Joining us as Director of CTEC offers a unique and exciting opportunity to lead a flagship national initiative at a pivotal moment, shaping the future of construction education and skills across Yorkshire & Humber and beyond. You will be at the forefront of influencing policy, driving regional collaboration and delivering meaningful impact for learners, employers and communities.

As part of a committed and forward-thinking Strategic Leadership Team, you will work in a supportive and ambitious environment where your ideas and leadership will be valued. In return, we offer a supportive, ambitious environment where innovation is valued and your leadership will make a lasting impact on students, staff, and the wider industry.

In return, we offer a warm and welcoming college with an excellent benefits package that includes:

A 35-day annual leave entitlement, plus 8 Bank Holidays and 10 college closure days

A well-respected pension scheme (Teacher’s Pension, with an employer contribution of 28.68%)

Free parking at all our college sites (on a first come first served basis)

Family friendly policies and opportunities for flexible working

Superb opportunities for training and development

Discounted travel on public transport and a Cycle to work scheme

Discounts and offers at major High Street and Online retailers
