How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    SEN Teacher - Specialist School

    Location: Stoke-on-Trent
    Salary: Main Pay Scale (MPS)
    Contract: Full-time, Permanent
    Hours: Monday to Friday
    Start Date: September 2026
    We are seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN Teacher to join a specialist school in Stoke-on-Trent from September 2026.
    This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a highly supportive team within a specialist setting that provides education for children and young people aged 5-19 with a range of complex special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and associated communication, sensory and physical needs.
    The school is committed to delivering personalised, engaging and meaningful learning experiences that enable every pupil to achieve their full potential, develop independence and prepare for adulthood. Staff work collaboratively with therapists, support staff and families to ensure pupils receive a holistic, person-centred education in a nurturing and inclusive environment.

    The Role

    As an SEN Teacher, you will:

    Plan and deliver creative, engaging and differentiated lessons that meet individual learning needs.

    Create a safe, stimulating and inclusive classroom environment.

    Work closely with teaching assistants and a multidisciplinary team to support pupil progress.

    Contribute to EHCP targets, assessments and annual reviews.

    Monitor and assess pupil progress, adapting teaching strategies where appropriate.

    Build positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.

    Promote communication, independence, emotional wellbeing and positive behaviour.

    About You

    We are looking for someone who:

    Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

    Has a genuine passion for working with children and young people with special educational needs.

    Can adapt their teaching to meet a wide range of learning needs.

    Has strong communication and classroom management skills.

    Works well as part of a collaborative team.

    Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

    All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 14.3% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
