How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Qualified Learning Support Assistant - Secondary SEMH Outreach (Eccles)

    Location: Eccles, Greater Manchester
    Pay: £110-£120 per day (depending on experience)
    Job Type: Temporary to Long-Term
    Start Date: September 2026

    Are you a qualified Learning Support Assistant with a passion for helping young people overcome barriers to education? Do you have experience supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and challenging behaviour?

    We are looking for a dedicated, resilient, and compassionate Qualified Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist secondary SEMH outreach provision in the Eccles area. This is a rewarding role supporting young people both in educational settings and within the community, helping them to re-engage with learning and achieve positive outcomes.

    The Role

    As a Qualified Learning Support Assistant, you will:

    Support secondary-aged pupils with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour.
    Deliver outreach support to students in a variety of settings, including schools and community locations.
    Build positive, professional relationships with pupils to encourage engagement, confidence, and emotional wellbeing.
    Support the delivery of personalised learning programmes and interventions.
    Use positive behaviour management strategies to support pupils with emotional regulation.
    Work closely with teachers, families, and other professionals to provide consistent support.

    Requirements

    We are looking for candidates who:

    Hold a recognised Learning Support Assistant qualification or relevant Teaching Assistant qualification.
    Have experience supporting secondary-aged pupils with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour.
    Have excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
    Are patient, resilient, adaptable, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
    Hold a full UK driving licence and are willing to travel as part of an outreach role.
    Have business-use motor insurance or are willing to obtain it before starting the role.
    Hold an Enhanced Child and Adult DBS registered on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for a new DBS.

    Desirable Skills

    Previous experience in an outreach, alternative provision, or specialist education setting.
    Knowledge of trauma-informed practice and restorative approaches.
    Experience delivering one-to-one interventions.
    Team Teach or other positive behaviour management training (desirable but not essential).
