How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Building Surveyor
    Orpington, covering London & the South East
    £45,000 - £55,000 + Hybrid Working + Private Healthcare + Paid Sick Leave + APC Support + Excellent Progression

    This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established Chartered Surveying practice that has built an outstanding reputation delivering projects across the public sector. Due to continued growth, they're looking to add a Building Surveyor to their expanding team, offering the chance to work on a diverse portfolio of projects while receiving industry-leading support towards Chartership.

    This established consultancy delivers a wide range of building surveying services across London and the Southeast, predominantly working with housing associations, local authorities, educational institutions, and public sector organisations. Projects range from refurbishment and new build schemes through to stock condition surveys, planned maintenance programmes, and contract administration. With continued expansion into new sectors and offices, they are committed to developing the next generation of Chartered Building Surveyors.

    You'll be involved in both office and site-based work, supporting the delivery of a varied project workload including contract administration, project management, defect diagnosis, building inspections, planning applications, and technical reporting. Working alongside experienced surveyors, you'll gain exposure across the full project lifecycle while receiving ongoing mentoring and professional development.

    Therefore, the ideal candidate will have previous Building Surveying experience, with exposure to contract administration and project management. Experience within residential, social housing, education, or wider public sector projects would be highly advantageous.

    This is an outstanding opportunity to join a consultancy that places genuine emphasis on career development. With structured APC support, internal mentoring, external training, and a clearly defined progression route through to Senior Building Surveyor and Associate level.

    The Role:

    Prepare and submit planning and Building Regulations applications
    Produce specifications, tender documentation and tender analysis reports
    Assist with contract administration under JCT and other contract forms
    Based out of their office in Orpington, with travel across London and the Southeast
