How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Salary: £50,000–£60,000
    Location: West London

    The Opportunity

    Are you an experienced Seafood Buyer with strong market knowledge, an established supplier network and a passion for sourcing high-quality products?

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for a commercially minded Senior Seafood Buyer to join a growing food business. You'll take ownership of the procurement of fresh fish and seafood products, helping to shape purchasing strategy, strengthen supplier relationships and maximise commercial performance.

    Working closely with senior leadership, you'll also support and develop a small buying team while ensuring excellent product availability, quality and value across the category.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Lead the sourcing and procurement of fresh fish and seafood from UK and international suppliers.

    * Build and maintain strong relationships with processors, importers, wholesalers and seafood suppliers.

    * Negotiate pricing, supply agreements and commercial terms to maximise value and protect margins.

    * Monitor market trends, seasonality and supply risks to make informed purchasing decisions.

    * Work closely with Sales, Production and Operations to ensure stock availability while minimising waste.

    * Ensure compliance with quality standards, specifications, traceability and responsible sourcing requirements.

    * Analyse purchasing data to support forecasting, budgeting and commercial decision-making.

    * Maintain accurate supplier and purchasing records while leading and developing the buying team.

    About You

    * Proven experience buying fresh fish and seafood within a commercial environment.

    * Strong supplier network and excellent negotiation skills.

    * Previous experience leading, mentoring or developing team members.

    * Commercially astute with a strong understanding of margin management, stock control and cost optimisation.

    * Confident working in a fast-paced fresh food environment with changing market conditions.

    * Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
