How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

You'll work closely with engineers, scientists, and fellow technicians in a collaborative technical environment developing next-generation fusion technologies.

    Key Responsibilities

Carry out mechanical assembly, installation, and integration of engineering systems.
Support maintenance, upgrades, inspections, and fault-finding across a range of equipment.
Work from engineering drawings and technical documentation.
Provide general mechanical engineering support across multiple projects.
Collaborate with engineers, scientists, and other technical personnel.
Maintain safe working practices and comply with health and safety procedures.
Take ownership of work areas, tools, and equipment quality standards.

    Essential Experience & Skills

Apprenticeship-trained mechanical technician or equivalent practical experience.
Experience in mechanical fitting, repair, servicing, or maintenance.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
Flexible, proactive, and able to adapt to changing priorities.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Good understanding of health and safety practices.
Comfortable working in a practical, hands-on engineering environment.

    Desirable

    Maintenance or multi-skilled engineering background.
Experience in research and development (R&D), scientific, or highly regulated engineering environments.
Exposure to vacuum systems, cryogenic equipment, or precision engineering.

    What's on Offer

Competitive salary dependent on skills and experience.
Generous annual leave plus bank holidays.
    Performance-related bonus opportunities.
    Employee share scheme.
Pension and comprehensive financial protection benefits.
    Health and wellbeing support package.
Ongoing training and career development opportunities.
The opportunity to contribute to the development of pioneering fusion technology in a collaborative engineering environment.Rullion celebrates and supports diversity and is committed to ensuring equal opportunities for both employees and applicants
