How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Data Engineer – NPPV 3 Cleared – Contract – Outside IR35 – Hybrid – Midlands

    VIQU have partnered with a well-established public-sector organisation in the Midlands, who are seeking a Data Engineer to join a major RMS (Records Management System) replacement programme.

    The successful Data Engineer will be responsible for designing and building robust data pipelines, supporting large-scale data migration activities, and enabling reporting and analytics capabilities across a complex enterprise environment.

    Key responsibilities:

    Design, develop, and optimise scalable ETL/ELT pipelines to support data migration, integration, and reporting requirements.
    Build data ingestion and transformation solutions across multiple source and target systems.
    Analyse existing datasets, schemas, and data structures to support mapping and migration activities.
    Work closely with solution architects and suppliers to implement target data models and integration patterns.
    Drive data quality initiatives, including validation, cleansing, monitoring, and exception management.
    Support testing, trial migrations, cutover activities, and production readiness throughout the programme lifecycle.
    Key skills & experience required:

    Strong commercial experience as a Data Engineer delivering solutions within large-scale transformation, migration, or enterprise change programmes.
    Expert knowledge of ETL/ELT development, data integration, and the design of scalable data pipelines.
    Proven experience delivering complex data migration and transformation projects involving multiple source and target systems.
    Strong understanding of data modelling, relational databases, data warehousing, and data lake architectures.
    Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure data services and cloud-based data platforms.
    Experience working with technologies such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Python, ETL tooling, API integrations, and enterprise-scale data platforms.
    Strong knowledge of data quality, governance, compliance, monitoring, and data integrity frameworks, with experience handling large and complex operational datasets.
    We are ideally seeking candidates with active NPPV 3 Clearance & experience working within policing / public sector environments.
    Contract Details:

    Role: Data Engineer
    Rate: £400 - £500 per day
    IR35: Outside IR35
    Duration: Running till February 2027 / 6 months
    Location: Hybrid – Onsite 2-3 days per month
    Security: NPPV3 clearance required or ability to obtain
