How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

SEN Teaching Assistant (SEMH & ADHD)
    Location: Merton, London
    Salary: £92.56 – £105 per day
    Contract: Full-time, temporary, long-term
    Start Date: 1 September 2026
    Phase: Primary – KS1/KS2
Salary is dependent on experience and qualifications. Higher rates are available for candidates with extensive SEN experience and relevant training. Pay is determined in line with Agency Worker Regulations (AWR), where applicable.

Teach Now is recruiting for a dedicated and emotionally intelligent SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEMH and ADHD within a caring primary school in Merton. This long-term role is ideal for someone who is patient, resilient and passionate about helping children feel safe, understood and ready to learn.
The school offers a warm and inclusive environment where pupils are supported both academically and pastorally. Staff work closely together to create consistent routines, positive relationships and tailored support for children who may need additional help with focus, confidence, emotional regulation or behaviour.

    The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils across KS1 and KS2 with SEMH and ADHD needs. You will help children access classroom learning, manage transitions, build independence and develop positive strategies for communication and self-regulation.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Support pupils with SEMH and ADHD in class and during targeted interventions.
    • Help children engage with learning through structured, accessible activities.
    • Use calm and consistent behaviour-support strategies.
    • Encourage emotional regulation, confidence and positive social interaction.
    • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider pastoral team.
    • Support pupils during transitions, routines and less structured parts of the day.
    • Contribute to observations, progress updates and individual support planning.

    Requirements
    • Previous experience supporting children with SEMH, ADHD or additional needs.
    • Experience in a primary school, SEN setting, behaviour support role or similar child-focused environment.
    • A calm, confident and consistent approach to supporting behaviour.
    • Good understanding of safeguarding and inclusive practice.
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust with pupils.
    • Relevant qualifications are desirable, such as Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, childcare, youth work, psychology or SEND training.
    • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.

    Benefits
    • Full-time, long-term role starting September 2026.
    • Supportive Merton primary school with a strong inclusive ethos.
    • Opportunity to develop specialist SEN, SEMH and ADHD experience.
    • Competitive daily rate of £92.56 – £105.
    • Collaborative staff team and supportive SENCO.
    • Ongoing guidance and placement support from Teach Now.
This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, Learning Support Assistant or graduate with strong SEN experience who wants to make a real difference in a child’s school journey.
