How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Mechanical Fitter
    A well-established engineering organisation operating within the UK water and environmental sector is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join its growing team.

    Working hours: 7:30 am - 4:30 pm

    Role Overview
    As a Mechanical Fitter, you will carry out installation, maintenance, and repair work across a range of mechanical systems on-site. You will be part of a wider team delivering projects safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
    Key Responsibilities
    * Installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment
    * Fault finding and troubleshooting mechanical systems
    * Working on pumps, pipework, valves, and associated equipment
    * Reading and interpreting technical drawings and schematics
    * Carrying out planned preventative maintenance
    * Supporting reactive and emergency works when required
    * Ensuring all work is carried out in line with health & safety standards
    * Completing risk assessments and following method statements
    Requirements
    * Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification
    * Experience in an on-site mechanical engineering environment
    * Strong knowledge of pumps, motors, and pipework systems
    * CSCS card or equivalent
    * Additional tickets (EUSR, IPAF, PASMA, Confined Space, Abrasive Wheels) beneficial but not essential
    * Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    * Good communication skills and strong work ethic
