How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Join this leading therapeutic provider of Residential Childcare in their expansions across the West Midlands!

    * Job Title: Senior Children’s Residential Support Worker

    * Home Type: 3 Bedded EBD home – therapeutic PACE approach

    * Location: Wolverhampton, West Midlands

    * Overall package: £34,537.50 - £38,437.50 p/a

    * Enhanced Overtime: +£2 per hour!

    * Birthday off & paid!

    * Fixed shift pattern – know your rota a year in advance, 3 days off between shifts & 5 full weekends in 9

    Who will you be working for?

    This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of the fastest growing (and best performing) children’s home providers across the country – they have 10 homes, all of which are rated a minimum of Good in all areas. They have a phenomenal structure including a Head Office with an internal clinical team, second to none training opportunities, incredibly experienced senior management, and they employ over 150 people already (15% of which received a promotion last year). Their retention rates are well above industry average, and this is reflected in the benefits they offer, such as enhanced overtime, attendance bonus, paid sleep-ins on annual leave days, birthday off & paid, training and development opportunities, and more!

    The homes are all small, family oriented 2-4 bedded EBD/LD children’s homes and tend to support young people that display SEMH and/or mild LD using a therapeutic PACE approach alongside their inhouse clinical psychologists. Opportunities with this organisation do not come about often and they are currently looking to expand their staffing pool ahead of new homes in the coming year.

    The Package & Benefits:

    * Basic pay: £15.25 - £16.25 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications, plus £50 per sleep-in

    * Estimated package: £34,537.50 - £37,687.50 p/a

    * Enhanced Overtime Rate: An additional +£2 per hour after 170 hours worked

    * Attendance Bonus: Receive up to £750 per annum for good attendance

    * Birthday off & paid!

    * Long Service Bonus: Receive a £1000 bonus for 5 years’ service

    * Training & Qualifications: Opportunity to complete a fully funded & accredited Level 5 in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare qualification, therapeutic ‘PACE’ training and more!

    * Free DBS and Update Service Subscription

    * Recognition Awards and Company Events

    * Employee Assistance Program: 24/7 support with health, wellbeing, financial or legal issues, and more – including free counselling!

    * Progression Opportunities: Real opportunities for progression as the company consistently expands with new homes (15% of their staff received promotions last year)

    * Holiday: 5.6 weeks (28 days) of paid annual leave, including bank holidays. Use 1 day and receive up to 7 days off in a row!

    What Will The Role Entail?

    As a Senior Children’s Residential Support Worker, you will be the backbone of the staff team whilst on shift. You will pull from your experience working in children’s homes to manage and lead your passionate team to ensure smooth operation of the home and second-to-none delivery of care for young people.

    The Successful Senior Children’s Residential Support Worker Candidate Will Excel At:

    * Communicating effectively with young people, your colleagues, families, and external professionals. Shift-leading, problem-solving, and being calm under pressure is vital for a Senior.

    * Key-working with young people, considering their thoughts, wishes, and feelings, promoting life skills and independence, encouraging them to engage in education, activities, and hobbies. Most importantly, readying them for adult life when they leave care.

    * Developing and reviewing Ofsted required paperwork such as care plans, behaviour support plans, and risk assessments, to name a few.

    * Following Ofsted’s regulations related to Quality Standards and understanding safeguarding policies and procedures.

    * Understanding the operations of the home regarding Health and Safety, medication administration, cleanliness and finances.

    Requirements for the Senior Children’s Residential Support Worker role:

    * 2+ years’ experience working specifically within a children’s home environment

    * Level 3 or 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)

    * Full UK Manual Driving Licence and access to a vehicle

    * Flexibility to carry out the shift pattern described at the top of the advert, including sleep-ins

    * A genuine passion for supporting the well-being and healthy development of young people
