How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    FCAW Welder
    Location: Fife / Central Scotland
    Employment type: Long term PAYE opportunity
    Industry: Shipbuilding, fabrication and heavy engineering
    Pay
    £24.88 per hour PAYE
    £37.32 per hour overtime after 40 hours per week
    £33.09 per hour nights
    £400 weekly travel and lodge allowance
    Estimated gross weekly earnings
    45 hours days: £1,581.80 per week
    67 hours days: £2,402.84 per week
    45 hours nights: £1,910.22 per week
    67 hours nights: £2,731.26 per week
    We are looking to speak with experienced FCAW Welders for upcoming long term fabrication and marine engineering work in Fife.
    This opportunity would suit welders with experience in shipbuilding, fabrication, structural steel, heavy engineering, defence or major manufacturing environments. Fife has a strong marine and fabrication labour market, with long term shipbuilding activity in the wider area, including the Rosyth Type 31 Frigate Programme led by Babcock.
    The work is expected to suit candidates who are used to working in structured engineering environments with high standards around safety, quality and productivity.
    Key duties
    * FCAW welding on fabrication and heavy engineering work
    * Welding plate, structural steel and fabricated assemblies
    * Reading and working from engineering drawings and weld procedures
    * Preparing materials and checking work before welding
    * Producing consistent welds to required project standards
    * Working closely with platers, fabricators and production teams
    * Following site safety, quality and housekeeping procedures
    Experience required
    * Strong FCAW / flux core welding background
    * Experience in shipbuilding, fabrication, marine, defence, manufacturing or heavy engineering environments
    * Ability to read drawings and follow weld procedures
    * Comfortable working to production and quality targets
    * Previous coded welding experience would be beneficial
    * Ability to pass a weld test if required
