How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Overview

If you are a hands-on Telecoms engineer who thrives on variety, loves solving technical puzzles on-site, and wants to step away from repetitive bench-work, this is the role you’ve been looking for. Perfect Path Recruitment is representing a fast-growing industry leader in innovative communication and CX platforms as they expand their UK footprint. Supported by a Manchester hub, this position is built for a motivated Field Engineer who wants full ownership of diverse deployments across telecoms, networking, and IT infrastructure.

Instead of being chained to a desk or restricted to just one type of technology, you will be the face of the business across the UK. You will gain massive exposure to everything from core network hardware routing to cutting-edge hosted voice and CX rollouts. If you want a role where no two days are the same, where your practical engineering skills are valued, and where you have a direct path to expand your technical certifications, this opportunity delivers exactly that.

    Key Responsibilities

    On-Site Field Engineering

    *

Install and commission hosted telephony, networking hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, WAPs), and integrated IT infrastructure.

    *

Handle physical deployments, including mounting equipment cabinets, access points, security cameras, and structured data cabling (trunking, routing, and testing).

    *

Utilize hand and power tools safely to complete clean on-site installations, infrastructure upgrades, and preventative maintenance.

    *

Manage site documentation, completing accurate technical sign-off paperwork and installation records for every project.

    Service Desk & Remote Support

    *

Provide remote technical assistance to the Service Desk when you are not actively deployed on a customer site.

    *

Investigate and resolve support tickets covering broadband, hosted voice, SIP, and general core connectivity faults.

    *

Own client communication, managing troubleshooting expectations and escalating complex issues appropriately when required.

    Client Representation

    *

Act as a professional ambassador on-site, translating complex technical issues into clear language for non-technical clients.

    *

Build trusted customer relationships through exceptional service, ensuring work areas are left clean, safe, and tidy.

    Candidate Requirements

    Essential Experience & Skills

    *

Proven background installing, configuring, and supporting physical network infrastructure.

    *

Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking principles including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless networks.

    *

Practical hands-on cabling experience, alongside confidence using physical installation tools.

    *

Strong diagnostic skills with a logical approach to on-site fault-finding and problem-solving.

    *

Excellent communication skills with a reliable, proactive attitude toward managing an independent workload.

    *

A valid, Full UK Driving Licence with a willingness to travel nationwide.

    Desirable Attributes & Certifications

    *

Experience with hosted VoIP platforms (e.g., 3CX) or modern cloud communication/CX software.

    *

Familiarity with related hardware, such as CCTV, IP cameras, access control systems, or fiber cabling.

    *

Knowledge of Microsoft 365 and core Windows environment configurations.

    *

Active industry certifications (such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, Ubiquiti, or MikroTik).

    What the Client Offers

    *

    Financial Package: £29,000 – £35,000 base salary plus a performance-related bonus scheme.

    *

Equipment Provision: Company laptop, specialized tools, and full technical kit setup.

    *

Professional Growth: Funded ongoing technical training, vendor certifications, and clear career progression pathways.

    *

Work Environment: Broad technical exposure within a supportive, highly collaborative, and rapidly growing technology business
