How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Vehicle Preparation Technician / Prep Technician

    Location: Birmingham
    Salary: £28,000 Basic Salary | OTE £33,600
    Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

    This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Vehicle Preparation Technician to join a busy main dealer preparation centre in Birmingham. Working within a fast-paced, professional workshop, you'll be responsible for preparing vehicles to the highest retail standards while benefiting from a consistent workload, excellent employee benefits and genuine career progression.

    The Role

    As a Vehicle Preparation Technician, you'll play a key role in ensuring vehicles are prepared to the highest standards before reaching customers.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Carrying out servicing, repairs and general vehicle maintenance
    • Completing vehicle preparation work efficiently to dealership standards
    • Conducting vehicle inspections and identifying additional work where required
    • Ensuring all work complies with manufacturer and safety guidelines
    • Accurately completing job cards and workshop documentation
    • Working collaboratively to maintain workshop productivity and quality

    About You

    • NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair is essential
    • Minimum 2 years' experience as a Vehicle Preparation Technician / Vehicle Technician / Vehicle Mechanic / Automotive Technician / Car Mechanic
    • MOT Tester (Class 4) Licence advantageous but not essential
    • Must own your own tools and toolbox
    • Full UK Manual Driving Licence required
    • Right to work in the UK is essential - sponsorship is not available
    • A positive team player with excellent attention to detail and a strong work ethic
