How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Estimator – Commercial Construction

    Location: ME5, Kent
    Salary: Competitive (DOE) + Benefits

    We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established commercial building contractor based in ME5 for an experienced Estimator to join their growing team.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an estimator with a strong background in commercial construction who is confident pricing projects from initial enquiry through to tender submission.

    The Role

    You will be responsible for:

    * Preparing accurate cost estimates and tender submissions.

    * Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation.

    * Obtaining and analysing subcontractor and supplier quotations.

    * Conducting site visits where required.

    * Identifying value engineering opportunities.

    * Working closely with the pre-construction and delivery teams to ensure competitive and profitable bids.

    * Managing multiple tenders simultaneously while meeting deadlines.

    Requirements

    * Previous experience as an Estimator within the commercial building sector.

    * Proven track record of estimating projects up to £25 million in value.

    * Strong understanding of construction methods, materials and current market rates.

    * Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.

    * Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail.

    * Strong negotiation and communication skills.

    * Proficient in Microsoft Office and estimating software.

    Desirable

    * HNC/HND or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline.

    * Experience across sectors such as commercial, education, healthcare, industrial or mixed-use developments.
