How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Learning Support Assistant (LSA) / Learning Mentor

    Location: Slough, Berkshire ( SL3 )
    Hours: 20 hours per week (term time, with potential for additional hours during school holidays)
    Pay: £16.00–£20.00 per hour (depending on experience)
    Driver Required: Essential – Full UK driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle.

    About the Role

    We are seeking a caring, energetic, and reliable Learning Support Assistant (LSA) / Learning Mentor to provide 1:1 support for a bright and engaging 10-year-old boy with social and emotional needs.

    The successful candidate will build a positive, trusting relationship, helping him develop confidence, emotional regulation, resilience, and independence both in school and within the community.

    This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys working with children, has a calm and patient approach, and is passionate about making a meaningful difference.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Provide 1:1 support during the school day, working alongside school staff.

    * Build a positive mentoring relationship based on trust, consistency, and encouragement.

    * Support emotional regulation and social interaction using positive behaviour strategies.

    * Encourage participation in learning and school activities.

    * Drive the child safely to and from school each day (essential).

    * Transport the child to agreed extracurricular and community activities when required.

    * Plan and engage in active, enjoyable activities that promote confidence, wellbeing, and social skills.

    * Maintain regular communication with parents and professionals as required.

    * Keep accurate records of progress where appropriate.

    About You

    We're looking for someone who is:

    * Warm, patient, calm, and emotionally intelligent.

    * Enthusiastic, active, and enjoys sport and outdoor activities.

    * Confident in building positive relationships with children.

    * Reliable, flexible, and able to provide consistent support.

    * Able to remain calm in challenging situations and use positive behaviour support techniques.

    * A confident driver with a full UK driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle (essential).

    * Comfortable working independently while liaising with school staff and family.

    Desirable Experience

    * Experience working as an LSA, Teaching Assistant, Learning Mentor, Youth Worker, Sports Coach, SEN Support Worker, or similar.

    * Experience supporting children with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.

    * Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.

    * Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, youth work, psychology, or SEN are desirable but not essential.
