How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Maintenance Electrician

    Location: [Insert Location]
    Salary: £14.85 per hour + Shift Allowance
    Hours: 40 hours per week (37.5 contracted hours + 2.5 hours overtime)
    Shift Pattern: Rotating Days

    Week 1: Monday to Thursday, 6:00am – 4:00pm
    Week 2: Monday to Friday, 6:00am – 2:00pm

    Our client, a leading manufacturer within the heavy engineering sector, is seeking an experienced Maintenance Electrician to join their established Maintenance team on a permanent basis.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an apprentice-trained electrician with a strong industrial or manufacturing background to join a well-established business where you'll play a vital role in maintaining production equipment, reducing downtime and supporting ongoing improvement projects.

    Working within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, you'll be responsible for delivering both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive electrical maintenance across a wide range of heavy engineering machinery and site facilities.

    The Role

    As a Maintenance Electrician, you will ensure the safe and efficient operation of the site's electrical systems and manufacturing equipment, supporting production by responding quickly to breakdowns and carrying out planned maintenance activities.

    You'll be working on a variety of heavy industrial equipment, including:

    Forging presses
    Hammers
    Industrial furnaces
    CNC lathes
    Milling machines
    Borers
    Manual machine tools
    Site electrical infrastructure

    Key Responsibilities

    Carry out planned preventative and reactive electrical maintenance across the manufacturing site.
    Respond promptly to electrical breakdowns to minimise production downtime.
    Diagnose and repair electrical faults on industrial machinery and plant equipment.
    Complete electrical installation work in line with the latest 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
    Support continuous improvement and plant reliability initiatives.
    Update and maintain maintenance records using the CMMS system.
    Assist with the management of critical electrical spare parts.
    Ensure all work is completed in accordance with Health & Safety legislation and company procedures.
    Work collaboratively with production teams, maintenance engineers and external contractors.
    Support the training and development of engineering apprentices.
    Provide flexible support across the wider maintenance department when required.

    About You

    To be successful in this role, you will have:

    A recognised Electrical Apprenticeship, City & Guilds qualification or equivalent.
    Previous experience as a Maintenance Electrician, Electrical Maintenance Engineer or Industrial Electrician within a manufacturing or heavy engineering environment.
    Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
    Experience carrying out planned and reactive maintenance on industrial machinery.
    Excellent knowledge of industrial electrical systems and safe working practices.
    A proactive, self-motivated approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

    Desirable Experience

    Experience within heavy engineering, forging or industrial manufacturing.
    Familiarity with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
    Experience supporting continuous improvement projects.
