How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Gas Engineer
    Birmingham (B66)
    Total package £60,000 – £65,000

    We are recruiting a Gas Engineer for a long-established engineering manufacturer in Birmingham, offering a total package of £60,000 to £65,000. This is a hands-on, field-based role working with industrial gas-fired equipment, supported by a friendly and down-to-earth engineering team.
    This Gas Engineer position offers structured work, full training on specialist equipment and an excellent work-life balance, including a 1pm Friday finish and paid travel time.
    Key responsibilities
    • Carry out planned servicing of industrial gas-fired equipment
    • Work from pre-planned schedules with clear job information provided
    • Travel to UK customer sites approximately three days per week
    • Access technical support from colleagues where required
    • Support one major annual project involving approximately 12 nights away
    • Ensure high standards of safety, quality and customer service
    Package and benefits
    • Total package £60,000 to £65,000
    • Basic salary £45,000
    • Company car plus paid travel time
    • £3,000 discretionary bonus
    • Medical benefit valued at £720
    • Overtime paid after 8 hours per day, including travel
    • 1pm finish every Friday
    About you
    • Experience as a Gas Engineer in industrial gas or commercial gas settings
    • Relevant gas qualifications such as ACS, COCN1, ICPN1 or similar are welcome, current or lapsed
    • Full UK driving licence and UK passport required
    • Comfortable working in industrial environments including heat, dust, confined spaces and working at height
    • Strong communication skills and team-focused approach
