How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Our client, a leading civil engineering firm specialising in the water sector, is currently seeking a Senior Setting Out Engineer to join their thriving team. In this permanent role, you will be responsible for managing the engineering and quality aspects across multiple sites, primarily within the civil engineering and water industry sectors.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Establishing the level and survey control for contracts, ensuring detailed works are set out as per contract drawings
    Supervising trainees and site engineers, ensuring they complete daily setting out activities with confidence
    Ensuring health and safety records and work environment are compliant with organisational and legal requirements
    Delivering projects safely, without environmental incidents, and ensuring specified quality standards are met
    Collaborating with the Site Agent/Sub Agent to develop efficient work methods and techniques
    Managing procurement by undertaking pre-start material take-offs and populating material procurement schedules
    Conducting quality audits and compiling quality management plans
    Maintaining positive working relationships across all levels of the project team and stakeholders

    Job Requirements:

    Experience in setting out civil engineering projects, including reinforced concrete works
    Experience within the water industry would be an advantage
    Degree/HNC or equivalent in civil engineering
    Proficiency in using AutoCAD
    Ability to manage and deliver successful projects with minimal guidance
    Strong report-writing and record-keeping skills
    Excellent communication abilities, capable of engaging with client representatives, site team, and operatives
    CSCS Card and SMSTS certification
