How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Location: Swindon, UK
    Salary: £38,000 - £41,000 per annum
    Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
    Schedule: Monday–Friday

    The Role

    We are recruiting for an experienced National Planning Supervisor to join a leading UK logistics and distribution business, supporting its central transport planning function.

    Working closely with the National Planning and Supply Chain Manager, you will play a key role in overseeing the planning operation for the companies UK sites, leading a team of planners and administrators, and ensuring the delivery of efficient and cost-effective transport solutions across a multi-site network.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Transport Planning professional looking to step into a broader leadership role within a well-established and growing logistics operation.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Ensure compliance health and safety guidelines during day-to-day management of planning and order management.

    * Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments across all planning operations.

    * Develop and implement strategies to streamline planning processes, improve service delivery, and innovative solutions.

    * Act as a liaison between planning teams and clients/stakeholders.

    * Resolve any customer enquiries, complaints or issues in a timely and satisfactory manner.

    * Support people management processes in line with company policies (recruitment, training, grievance, absence etc.)

    * Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to support team members.

    * Facilitate skill-building workshops, seminars, and training sessions to enhance the capabilities of the planning team.

    * Build a continuous improvement plan and develop an annual budget for planning projects and initiatives.

    * Planning KPI metrics, identifying opportunities for efficiency.

    * Optimise resource allocation and utilisation to maximise efficiency and cost-effectiveness across planning operations.

    Key Requirements

    * Minimum 3 years’ experience within Transport Planning, with previous supervisory or management experience

    * Experience planning across multi-site or network operations

    * Strong knowledge of Transport Management Systems (TMS)

    * Good understanding of Health & Safety regulations within transport and logistics

    * Strong decision-making, planning, and organisational skills

    * High level of numerical ability and confidence working with operational and financial data

    * Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities

    * 8hr shifts between 7:30am/7:30pm
